Isolate them from the global economy as effectively as we can.Target there military installations with nuclear weapons. Note I did not sayattack them with nuclear weapons. Just target. State to get rare stone artifacts
People who found them did not know until recent years what they were."We had no idea," Abernethy said. "We didn't get too excited at first, just thinking they were kind of crude. They're not like real nice arrowheads."Bruce Huckell, a University of New Mexico anthropology professor, became aware of the discovery a few years ago and identified the artifacts for what they were, Abernethy said.Huckell declined to be interviewed, saying he was barred from doing so because of a commitment to the National Geographic Society, which has provided research funding. The society declined to allow Huckell to immediately be interviewed.Swenson said the Clovis artifacts are not the first to be discovered in North Dakota; there are some in private collections. But she said it will be the first time there will be such prehistoric items on public display, and the small site in Golden Valley County where they were found is the first documented Clovis site in the state."There's much to be learned since there are relatively few sites (nationwide)," she said.
Tom Savini, Legendary Special Effects Make-Up Artist, Actor and ...
MONESSEN, Pa., Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Douglas Education Center (DEC), a creative career school located just 30 minutes south of Pittsburgh, is already home to Tom Savini's monstrously successful Special Make-Up Effects Program, which began in 2000 and has graduated hundreds of students from all over the country. DEC offers many other programs besides make-up effects, including graphic design, illustration, cosmetology, and starting in February, Tom Savini's Digital Film Production Program. "Our film students are going to have the opportunity to collaborate with all of these other programs on their productions," said Savini. "They will be surrounded by talented individuals, just like in a professional studio, from the very first day they step on campus." Each student entering the 16-month program receives a video camera and a laptop computer fully equipped with software for all their filmmaking needs.
Candidates press cases for Round 2
And, I think the best first place to start is with the politicians that blocked the bipartisan SCHIP bills for the kids. Passed by congress twice. But what about the President. It was Bush after all that blocked the bipartisan SCHIP bill passed by congress to assure more health coverage for Americas kids. So which of the presidential hopefuls do I think will be most supportive of implementing the demand of the majority of the American people to have HR 676 (Medicare For All) passed into law immediately! We have some very fine presidential candidates who would make good presidents. But none of the top Presidential candidates directly support HR 676, the only true Universal Health Care plan. So I am supporting Hillary Clinton. She is the only top candidate that has ever actually fought for universal health care before.
Pakistani stars desert Lollywood for Bollywood
There's a rather unexpected fallout of the India-Pakistan peace process: film stars are deserting Lollywood for better pastures in Bollywood. The lack of good quality productions and the slump in local cinema have led Pakistani movie stars to India, "where they are tripping over each other" to sign up for Bollywood ventures, according to the Daily Times. "These actors and actresses like to highlight that their performances across the border give a boost to India-Pakistan relations," the newspaper said on Saturday. "However, while the top talent enjoys the more professional, and lucrative, experience of working in India, less glamorous film industry professionals are running out of work." Ironically, Indian movies are still banned here.
Further Reflections on the MacBook Air
I often have to review products after using them for a much shorter time than I would like and the was definitely true for my column on the MacBook Air. I've now had time to get to know the Air a lot better, including taking it on a transcontinental trip. But if nothing, my original conclusions about it have strengthened with experience: What seemed good feels even better and the defects feel even more deficient. The Good: As long as you are not hobbled by its limitations, the Air is a joy to use. I find that I type more comfortably and accurately on the rather flat keyboard of the air than I do on the more sculptured keyboard of the MacBook Pro. The screen is gorgeous with the LED backlighting providing very even illumination from corner to corner. The ambient light sensing, which I once thought of as a sort of MacBook gimmick is extremely effective at keeping the screen at a comfortable level of brightness under just about any lighting condition except direct outdoor sunshine.
MacBook Pro Penryn update imminent (updated)
Update: I really wish that Apple would have built Penryn into the MacBook Air, but George Ou speculates that Penryn was probably still an unknown quantity when the MBA was being designed many moons ago. Update 2: According to AI Penryn increases battery performance by as much as 16 percent and encoding operations by as much 40 percent. posted by Jason D.
