Oscar Winner Tilda Swinton Addresses Offbeat Love Life

And I'm giving this to him because there's no way I would be in America at all," Swinton said, comparing the Oscar statuette to her agent, Brian Swardstrom. "I'm giving this to you."

Swinton, who played the White Witch in 2005's "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe" and appeared in "Orlando" and "The Deep End," also took a good-natured swipe at her "Michael Clayton" co-star.

"George Clooney, you know, the seriousness and the dedication to your art, seeing you climb into that rubber bat suit from 'Batman and Robin,' the one with the nipples, every morning under your costume ... on the set, off the set, hanging upside down during lunch. You rock man."

Backstage, Swinton said she was "so stoked, as they say, I think it's fantastic.

Upside of U.S. downturn is about inflation

Don't expect Ben Bernanke to come right out and say it.

But the U.S. Federal Reserve Board chief just may be secretly wishing for the one thing he insists he's working tirelessly to avert – a recession.

The reason, of course, is the surprising resurgence of inflation.

While we've all been watching the U.S. housing slump and the credit crunch play out, prices for just about everything have been quietly spiking. Last week, oil and wheat pushed to new highs that seem almost surreal. Oil at more than $103 (U.S.) a barrel. Wheat approaching $15 a bushel.

Daily Blabber Celebrity Gossip Blog from iVillage Entertainment

Just like last month, Tracy and I will be debating some of the things we disagreed on this month. Read our back and forth, then tell us what you think. First up? Avril Lavigne...

Suzy: Worse than last month's obsessive love of Will Smith, this time it was your love of Avril "the Spitter" Lavigne. You love her? Really? Personally, I think she should be banished from the music world for mispronouncing rock legend David Bowie's name when she read the Grammy nominations. Then again, it's not like she's truly a musician... she's more of a lip-syncing little troll.

Tracy: Give me break! In a world of pop music tartlets, Avril is one chick who has her head on straight. She does what she wants and makes no apologies -- I find that admirable. She's managed to have a successful career without slutting around Hollywood and is, spitting aside, a strong role model for young girls.

The Incredible Hulk Trailer Coming Early March

Marvel Entertainment announced its fourth quarter and full year operating results this morning, and with it came the news that you'll be seeing the first trailer for The Incredible Hulk in early March. Our guess is that it will hit theaters with Warner Bros.' PG-13 rated 10,000 B.C. on March 7 (if that's true, make sure you call your theater to see if the trailer is playing with the showtime you're thinking of attending, as it will likely not be on every screen) and then with the R-rated Universal (the studio releasing "Hulk" in theaters) pic Doomsday on March 14. Also, it was revealed that, because of the writers strike and possible actors strike, Marvel Studios will have one in-house release in the later part of 2009, instead of two like this year (Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk), but it's anyone's guess right not if that is Ant-Man, Captain America, Thor or The Avengers.

Light at the end of the nuclear deal tunnel

Electroplating and dyeing units have played havoc with the rivulet. The toxicity in it is affecting the river Sutlej also, to which it is connected. Unless the officials down the line are made personally responsible for its upkeep, they will continue to invent excuses for not stemming the deadly rot.
